Aromatherapy - What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy involves the systematic use of essential oils from aromatic plants in holistic treatments, to improve physical and emotional well-being.
Regular treatments will bring about a dramatic improvement in general health, increased vitality and a visible improvement in the texture and colour of the skin. It is a wonderful treatment for lowering stress and tension, relieving pain, promoting relaxation and aiding sleep, and reducing the necessity for conventional drugs. It supports and encourages the body's own natural ability to heal itself.
The main methods of using these essential oils are -
(a) massage: where the oils are absorbed through the skin and into the blood stream. Combined with the healing power of touch, the application of the oils can produce a very effective relief from stress & tension and many common ailments.
(b) inhalation: at the same time we breath in the fine aromatic particles, which have a direct effect on the brain and central nervous system through the olfactory system.

(c) other methods, which carry the oils particles in the air are airsprays, vapourisers or burners.
In the hands of an experienced Aromatherapist, essential oils can also be used very successfully in compresses, creams and lotions etc.
Aromatherapy is one of the most popular methods of Natural Healing today and although it may be quite new to you, it is as old as the pyramids of Egypt, in fact, the Ancient Egytians practised a form of Aromatherapy some 5000 years ago.

This month's Stress Buster tip is....

Stress Buster: start the day in tune - just make sure it's the right tune.
Most of us are startled out of slumber in the morning by the harsh shrill of an alarm clock.
This is a killer and many have replaced the alarm clock with a radio alarm. This is a definite improvement, but many people like to listen to the news in the morning and we would recommend a change to this habit.
Studies have shown that people who are under stress tend to internalise the bad news subconsciously. A stressed person, hearing about war or famine and such like, might not worry about the bad news itself, but it will tend to exacerbate the feeling of stress and tension already present.
So, a good idea is to start the day by listening to uplifting music. This is now very easy with the aforementioned radio alarms, many of which have a tape player attached.
Dr. David Lewis says that brisk tempo music helps you prepare for the day ahead. If you wake up feeling tense and need a more soothing music, the ideal tempo for relaxation is a bit slower than your resting heart rate.

Biorhythms: another good way to make the most of each day is to study your Biorhythms. - Tune in to the Natural Rhythms of Life.
Biorhythms are the continuous physiological changes, which recur in our lives with seeming regularity. In fact they are a never-ending series of cycles, which can be accurately measured.
The natural cycles of life affect us in many different ways. Some we have adapted to and follow their patterns and rhythms, but others we fight against and usually find it a constant battle, because you can't fight nature. -
However, we can learn to tune into nature and live life to the full.
There are other natural cycles like the seasons - Spring; Summer; Autumn; Winter; - the tides; - and the phases of the moon, which we know exist but can do nothing about, so we just accept them as natural and go with their flow.
Once we recognise how these unseen forces affect our lives, we can learn how to harness them and use them to our advantage.
Becoming aware of these cycles and learning to measure them, can help you to plan your life and live it more positively and effectively....
That means you can look forward to the days when you will be at your peak, - Physically, Intellectually and Emotionally and take advantage of those days to achieve great things.
You may be interested to know that Mark Spitz, who won seven gold medals in the 1972 Olympic Games, between 27th August and 8th September, had a double peak in both his Physical and Emotional Cycles during this period. This is a powerful combination indeed , and must have contributed tremendously to his success in the swimming pool.

Men like to barbecue. Men will cook if danger is involved.
If you buy your husband or boyfriend a video camera, for the first few weeks he has it, lock the door when you go to the bathroom. Most of my husband's early films ended with a scream and a flush.
Men are very confident people. My husband is so confident that when he watches sports on television, he thinks that if he concentrates he can help his team. If the team is in trouble, he coaches the players from our living room, and if they're really in trouble, I have to get off the phone in case they call him.
Men love to be the first to read the newspaper in the morning. Not being the first is upsetting to their psyches.
All men look nerdy in black socks and sandals.
Don't try to teach men how to do anything in public. They can learn in private; but in public they have to know.
All men are afraid of eyelash curlers. I sleep with one under my pillow, instead of a gun.
A good place to meet a man is at the dry cleaner. These men usually have jobs and bathe.
Men love watches with multiple functions. My husband has one that is a combination address book, telescope and piano.
Men are sensitive in strange ways. If a man has built a fire and the last log does not burn, he will take it personally.
Men are brave enough to go to war, but they are not brave enough to get a bikini wax.
Men don't get cellulite. God might just be a man.
Men have an easier time buying bathing suits. Women have two types:
depressing and more depressing. Men have two types: nerdy and not nerdy.
Men have higher body temperatures than women. If your heating goes out in winter, I recommend sleeping next to a man. Men are like portable heaters that snore.
Most men hate to shop. That's why the men's department is usually on the first floor of a department store, two inches from the door.
