Aromatherapy - What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy involves the systematic use of essential oils from aromatic plants in holistic treatments, to improve physical and emotional well-being.

Regular treatments will bring about a dramatic improvement in general health, increased vitality and a visible improvement in the texture and colour of the skin.

It is a wonderful treatment for lowering stress and tension, relieving pain, promoting relaxation and aiding sleep, and reducing the necessity for conventional drugs.

The most wonderful and natural thing about Aromatherapy is that iIt supports and encourages the body's own natural ability to heal itself.

The main methods of using these essential oils are -

(a) massage: where the oils are absorbed through the skin and into the blood stream. Combined with the healing power of touch, the application of the oils can produce a very effective relief from stress & tension and many common ailments.

(b) inhalation: at the same time we breath in the fine aromatic particles, which have a direct effect on the brain and central nervous system through the olfactory system.

(c) other methods, which carry the oils particles in the air are airsprays, vapourisers or burners.

In the hands of an experienced Aromatherapist, essential oils can also be used very successfully in compresses, creams and lotions etc.

Aromatherapy is one of the most popular methods of Natural Healing today and although it may be quite new to you, it is as old as the pyramids of Egypt, in fact, the Ancient Egytians practised a form of Aromatherapy some 5000 years ago.
